I’m pleased to present a new recording of a song I co-wrote some years back with Ronnie Jeffrey. Lyrics are his, music is mine. I love this one…the melody and imagery have really stuck with me over the years.

This is the first of a bunch of songs I hope to record in the coming months and years. If you’d like to keep tabs on my progress, please consider signing up for my mailing list:

LYRICS

She’s like a flower in winter
Precious as new fallen snow
In matters of love I am just a beginner
But she learned of love long ago
I’m holdin’ her now and she’s not even here
No matter how far we’re apart one thing’s clear
She’s mendin’ my heart with a soft bindin’ twine
And heavenly, heavenly sunshine

CHORUS
She’s like a flower in winter
Blue moons and rainbows of gold
She’s like a saint to a sinner
Someone you can’t wait to hold
She’s like a flower in winter

She’s like a flower in winter
Rare as a diamond of blue
Beauty and tenderness shine deep within her
This time I ain’t passin’ thru

Cuz the grass is much greener right under my feet
Without her my life would be sadder than sweet
She’s mended my heart with a soft bindin’ twine
And heavenly, heavenly sunshine

CHORUS

Roby Duke’s “Bridge Divine” – The Lyrics (no, really!)

November 17, 2013

Very few songs have moved me in recent years like this song. I first became a fan of Roby Duke in 1982 with the release of Not The Same. The terrific songwriting, his pure blue-eyed soul vocals and some exceptional jazz-pop arrangements drew me in and haven’t let me go in the ensuing 30 years. [...]

My 10 Essential Podcasts

June 16, 2012

Podcasting is “on the grow”. As someone who grew up loving radio, and worked in radio myself for several years…I was always a pretty heavy consumer of the medium. However, the growth of the internet, the explosion of portable technology, the ubiquity of the MP3 audio format and the death of terrestrial radio are reaching [...]

As of the end of 2011, there were 37 million Facebook pages (aka “fan pages”) for which 10 or more people have clicked the “Like” button. They range from major brands like Pepsi to creators of witty word graphics to indie musicians. Almost everyone knows that Facebook profits greatly from the use of the personal information [...]
