It's funny that you should say that, Terry. As a result of your comment, I was reminded that StumbleUpon ads even existed. I'd never tried them before.

I started using them in the last few days...and the results have been underwhelming, to say the least.

I figured if it at least broke even in AdSense income, it would be worth it. So I sent the traffic to a couple of my better-converting sites. But I think the problem is this...Stumblers love their Stumble buttons...so they are more likely to use that to click out than to find an ad that might interest them.

So I've already paused my campaigns...but I have money in the account that I haven't used up yet, so I'll have to see if I can come up with another strategy. I don't see it boding well in the long term for the kinds of sites I build, though!

I came back to see what others had said in comments. Too bad more people aren't interacting with this post. I did the OnlyWire thing, hoping it will help. Forget what I said about StumbleUpon, it seems almost impossible to get Stumblers to comment on anything!

Hey Chuck,

Great to see a post here! I'm not really doing anything with Adsense right now, but your comment about Adwords made me think of something.

Have you tried advertising on StumbleUpon?

Great post, Chuck. I just stumbled it.

Two things stuck out to me:

1. More ad-block options. That's something I've been hoping they would do for a while now and I can't imagine why they haven't offered more.

2. Setting a minimum payout per click. This is something I've never thought of, but would LOVE to see! I'd imagine that would cause advertisers to have to bid higher for certain keywords that they're used to paying pennies for, which in-tern would piss them off, so I'd imagine they won't offer that option. Would be great if they did though!!!

They've also done some changes to their referral program, primarily with their adsense referrals I believe. I didn't read too much into it, but they've either drastically lowered the payout or stopped paying for Adsense referrals all together, which is pretty crappy.
