Hi, good article. I will check out ZoneAlarm - I'm still using an old version Sygate Personal Firwall, which was free until Norton's took them over and decided to kill off the freebies.

I tried AVG, but it conflicts with my ISP's software (sees it as a virus). Avast seems to be doing the job for me.

Every so often, I uninstall my Anti Virus Software and do a fresh install, just incase the virus' have got inside it! Maybe I'm paranoid...

Back in the old days I used both AVG and ZoneAlarm, but AVG didn't catch the virus before it infected my system, otherwise it did the job. ZoneAlarm is an excellent product and one that I've used since its first inception. If my ISP wasn't giving me F-Secure for free I would probably still be using them.

Regarding System Mechanic, I also used it but I found that so-called registry cleaning software ended up causing more than good. So I dumped it as well.

Now I just use F-Secure which has anti-virus, spyware and rootkit detection rolled into one product, and I'm quite happy with it.

I like your blog design btw. Tres chic!
